DWELL: Post-WWII Case Study House Designed by Craig Ellwood Lists for $5.4M

A Case Study House designed by architect Craig Ellwood has hit the market in Los Angeles for nearly $5.4 million.

Built in 1953, the home was a part of Arts & Architecture Magazine’s Case Study House Program, which began in 1945 and commissioned major architects to design and build inexpensive model homes for the post-World War II housing boom. In the end, 36 homes were designed but only 25 were built, mostly in the Los Angeles area.

This newly listed home was labeled No. 16, and it’s the only one designed by Ellwood that maintained its original look—his two other Case Study houses have been remodeled beyond recognition.  [more to read here]
