The genius of Roger Kennedy’s work in residential architecture is not well known; he only designed three houses for himself and his wife Lois. Each is iconic, & adds important vocabulary to the language of modernist design, but all are secluded in private hillside enclaves with such careful siting in nature that they become invisible in plain sight. House #3 is Kennedy’s most daring. Here he encloses his dynamic open plan live/work spaces within a precise solid brick shell dramatically cantilevered into the panoramic view. Approached down a private drive within a lush hillside garden, the residence’s loft-like living space comprises one bedroom & bath, eat-in kitchen and LR in the main living quarters; Kennedy’s studio space is used today as an expansive master suite with office, kitchenette, and a 3/4 bath & laundry within a dressing room. Generous storage room below entered from lower garden.
