While the ranch home is considered to be ubiquitous across the Southern California landscape, a custom Cliff May design is far from ordinary. Modernism, and specifically the principle of year-round, indoor/outdoor living, exists perfectly within a style that borrows greatly from early California Spanish haciendas and the working ranches of the period. A wide but very simple horizontal roofline suggests modesty at the street, yet the one-level residence is in fact a rambling, u-shaped design where nearly every room opens out through glass doors to the central patio and pool area. Signature elements such as rough split exterior siding, stone walls, exposed beam ceilings and extensive built-in cabinetry remain today from the original construction. A recent remodel of the kitchen and dining area has resulted in an even more open and modern approach to this true California Classic, which includes 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, living room, family room and attached two-car garage.
