Bright and airy Beachwood Canyon City View Residence: By the mid-thirties the Spanish Style residence was evolving into a more simplified design influenced by the modern movement and pueblo forms. Here, true to those influences, the principal roof is flat surrounded by a parapet-wall. Ornament is reduced, but still references Spanish detail. The simplicity is both calming and comforting. The residence is sited in a hillside garden on the western slope of Beachwood Canyon and overlooks a panorama of hills, the Hollywood Sign and the city. Gated at the street, the property affords exceptional privacy, even at the outdoor patio off the living room.
